Access Services Facility Report (March 26th – Apr 3rd 2017)
Current Projects:
6th Floor Changes: As our 6th-floor changes march forward, the shelving on the front of the floor has now been removed "see photo below". This is a step forward making necessary space for the furniture that is forthcoming in the near months. The floor where shelving had been placed is being worked on to return it to better condition. The back alcove has not been emptied but this step will happen in the coming weeks. Continue to remember the movement of books and pay attention to the newly updated range guides.
5th Floor Move: Now that we have made significant progress on the 6th floor, Ann and the stacks team has started the 5th-floor move this past week. This means more changes for items on that floor to be aware of. Range guides will be updated as the project moves along. Please ask Ann or me if you have any questions and be sure to notify patrons so they are aware as well.
Miscellaneous Projects:
Newspaper Shelving: In the reference area, you will notice new shelving for the newspapers. The map holders have been sent to surplus and the carts that were making a temporary home for the newspapers are being replaced with bookshelves. If you need any assistance with finding newspapers, please visit the circulation desk.
Surplus: A Surplus run was made last week and another one will take place in the coming weeks. Please let me know if you have anything that you would like to surplus for the upcoming run. We got several items out of the building and hope to free up even more space for you all soon.
Closing Statements:
The semester is rapidly coming to an end and traffic in the building is picking up. There has been a lot of moving parts throughout the library and I know everyone is working to keep up with the students as they come in more consistently with exams coming. As always I will be out in the building trying to keep up with them as well. Let me know if you have any questions or concerns as you see me in the building.
Till Next Time,
WC
